KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL
WORKSHOP -AUGUST 26, 1997
100 E. BROADWAY ST. -COMMUNITY
Mayor Mundy called the workshop to order at 7:10 p.m.
Members present were Mayor Mundy, Councilmen Steeno, Barrett, and Kovach. Councilmen
Boone and Wright were absent.
Staff present were Ted Rowe and Lynette Whidden.
ITEM NO. 1-Budget Workshop.
Mr. Rowe advised Council that the budget sheet provided tonight include all changes from the
previous meeting as well as a $6,500 increase to the General Fund Revenue due to the ambulance
payment reimbursement. Also, Council was presented a radio use breakdown by each
department.
Next, Council reviewed the Fire and EMS budgets; Fire Chief David Arnold spoke of the
importance of a fire marshal in order to meet new State requirements relating to fire inspections.
Also discussed were the needs for an administrative assistant for training, additional personnel,
and an administrative building.
Councilman Kovach requested more information relating to a training schedule, and Mayor
Mundy suggested training needs be revisited at the Thursday, August 28"' meeting.
Discussion then followed with the streetlpark department budgets with Michael Box, Director of
Development and Enforcement, emphasizing that the requested increases would allow for more
maintenance prevention. Also mentioned by Councilman Kovach was the need to look at bond
issues for major street repairs.
ITEM NO.2 -General Discussion.
Councilman Kovach requested that the September 4"' meeting be moved to Wednesday,
September 3`d so he would be able to attend. All councilmen present agreed to this change, and
staff was advised to notify the councilmen not present and to post proper notices.
There being no further discussion, Mayor Mundy adjourned the workshop.
