RESOLUTION NO. 36
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENNEDALE, TEXAS,
SUPPORTING THE NAVAL AIR STATION FORT WORTH, JOINT RESERVE
BASE, CARSWELL FIELD, AND OPPOSING PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE
PRESENT UNIT ASSIGNMENT.
WHEREAS, the Naval Air Station Fort Worth, Joint Reserve Base, Carswell
Field, is an integral part of the 1993 Commission and the
Department of Defense's efforts to establish the Fort Worth
Joint Reserve base. The establishment of a joint, master
reserve /guard base complements and enhances the Department of
Defense efforts in the joint military operations arena;
WHEREAS, a joint DoD facility was recommended by the 1993 Defense Base
Closure and Realignment Commission and the Commission found the
Dallas -Fort Worth metropolitan area to a superior recruiting
area for a joint reserve /guard installation, and
WHEREAS, a joint DoD facility occupied by the Naval & Marine Corps
Reserve, the Air Force Reserve and the Texas Air National Guard
provides for significant operational economies. Reduction or
relocation of units to other locations will only increase
Department of Defense costs which will have an overall adverse
affect on training and readiness; now, therefore:

to other locations is opposed.
