R36CITY OF KENNEDALE OFACIA[, CI1y S:CREI'ARY'S COPY RESOLUTION NO. 36 BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENNEDALE, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE NAVAL AIR STATION FORT WORTH, JOINT RESERVE BASE, CARSWELL FIELD, AND OPPOSING PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE PRESENT UNIT ASSIGNMENT. WHEREAS, the Naval Air Station Fort Worth, Joint Reserve Base, Carswell Field, is an integral part of the 1993 Commission and the Department of Defense's efforts to establish the Fort Worth Joint Reserve base. The establishment of a joint, master reserve /guard base complements and enhances the Department of Defense efforts in the joint military operations arena; WHEREAS, a joint DoD facility was recommended by the 1993 Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission and the Commission found the Dallas -Fort Worth metropolitan area to a superior recruiting area for a joint reserve /guard installation, and WHEREAS, a joint DoD facility occupied by the Naval & Marine Corps Reserve, the Air Force Reserve and the Texas Air National Guard provides for significant operational economies. Reduction or relocation of units to other locations will only increase Department of Defense costs which will have an overall adverse affect on training and readiness; now, therefore: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENNEDALE, TEXAS: 1. That the Naval Air Station Fort Worth, Joint Reserve Base, Carswell Field, should remain as presently aligned with units of the Naval and Marine Corps Reserve, the Air Force Reserve, and the Texas National Guard as recommended by the 1993 Defense Base Realignment and Closure Commission. 2. Proposed relocation of any of the presently assigned units to other locations is opposed. PASSED AND APPROVED this the 8th day of June, 1995. APPROVED: Mayor Bill Abbott ATTEST: City Secretary
