RESOLUTION NO. 59
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF KENNEDALE TO
PARTICIPATE IN A REGIONAL MASTER COMPOSTING EDUCATION
PROGRAM WITH THE SOUTHWEST METROPLEX ALLIANCE. THE PROGRAM
WILL BE FUNDED THROUGH A GRANT FROM THE NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS
COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Kennedale is committed to providing quality
educational opportunities to it's citizens; and
WHEREAS, Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission's Master
Composter Program has been successful at teaching individuals backyard
composting and increasing their environmental awareness; and
WHEREAS, yard waste comprises nearly 15% of Texas's total waste
stream consequently consuming valuable landfill space and incurring high
disposal cost; and
WHEREAS, back yard composting has been proven to decrease the
amount of yard waste in the waste stream thus decreasing the amount of
landfill space used while providing the individual with an excellent
soil for lawns and gardens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
KENNEDALE, TEXAS.
That the Mayor or their designee is hereby authorized to
participate in a Regional Master Composting Education Program with the
Southwest Metroplex Alliance which includes Benbrook, Burleson, Crowley,
Everman, Forest Hill, Kennedale, and Mansfield and which is to be funded
through a grant from the North Central Texas Council of Governments.
