R73CITY OF KENNEDALE RESOLUTION NO. 73 A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF AN ELECTION HELD ON THE SEVENTENTH DAY OF JANUARY, 1998 FOR THE PURPOSE OF DETERMINING WHETHER OR NOT TO AUTHORIZE THE ADOPTION OF A HOME RULE CHARTER FOR THE CITY OF KENNEDALE. WHEREAS, heretofore, the City Council of the City of Kennedale, Texas adopted an Ordinance calling an election to be held in said City on the seventeenth day of January, 1998 for the purpose of determining whether or not to authorize the adoption of a Home Rule Charter for the City of Kennedale; and WHEREAS, the said election was duly held at the time and at the places specified in the said ordinance after due notice as required by law had been given, and; WHEREAS, there were cast at said election a total of 465 votes, and; WHEREAS, all the qualified voters of the City of Kennedale, Texas were allowed to vote in said election: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENNEDALE, TEXAS. I. The Municipal election scheduled for January 17, 1998 was duly called, notice was given in accordance with the law and in accordance with the Ordinance calling for said election. The election was held in accordance with applicable state statutes and ordinances of the City of Kennedale, Texas and the following votes were cast on the following proposition: PROPOSITION THE ADOPTION OF A HOME RULE CHARTER FOR THE CITY OF KENNEDALE TO INCLUDE PROVISIONS FOR THE FORM OF GOVERNMENT AND BOUNDARIES; RIGHTS AND POWERS OF THE CITY; THE CITY COUNCIL; MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS; MUNICIPAL ADMINISTRATION; FINANCES; REVENUE AND TAXATION; BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS; MUNICIPAL COURT, FRANCHISES AND PUBLIC UTILITIES; INITIATIVE, REFERENDUM, AND RECALL; AND GENERAL PROVISIONS. II. The City Council's canvas of the votes reflects the following results: EARLY ELECTION TOTAL VOTES CAST DAY VOTES CAST VOTES FOR 60 219 279 AGAINST 33 153 186 TOTAL 93 372 465 III. The proposed proposition was approved by a majority of the qualified voters voting at such election. The City Council approves the canvas of the election. IV.
