KENNEDALE CITY COUNCIL
PUBLIC HEARING - JANURAY 8, 1998

Mayor Mundy called the public hearing to order at 7:30 p.m.
Members present were Mayor Mundy, Councilmen Wright, Steeno, Barrett, Boone and Kovach.
Staff present were Ted Rowe, Kathy Turner, Linda Royster, Michael Box, Mort Whetterling,
Thad Chambers, and legal counsel, Wayne K. Olson.
Public Hearing - To receive citizens input regarding projects to be funded under the Community
Development Block Grant program. This grant program is generally limited to street, drainage,
water or sewer improvements within the approved target area for the benefit of low to moderate-
income neighborhoods. Projects will be identified for the twenty-forth year (1998) with an
estimated annual award of $125,000.
Discussion began with the city administrator updating Council on the twenty-third community
development block grant program which included acquiring additional right-of--way for the
widening of Little School Road. He said for the twenty-forth year the following projects were
being recommended: upgrading the water line from Mansfield Cardinal to Swiney Hiett Road
with a 10" line and additional fire hydrants with an approximate costs of $95,600; reconstruct
Collett-Sublett Road with an approximate costs of $148,500; and/or reconstruct the walkway
around the city pond at an estimated costs of $29,000.
In addition, it was mentioned that with the total money received, there would be a possibility of
combining the two projects of upgrading the water line and reconstructing the walkway around
the city park.
There being no other input Mayor Mundy adjourned the public hearing at 7:47 p.m.
