ORDINANCE CALLING AN ELECTION ON THE QUESTION OF
ADOPTION OF AN ADDITIONAL SALES AND USE TAX TO
REDUCE THE PROPERTY TAX RATE,
AN ORDINANCE BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF KENNEDALE, TEXAS, CALLING AND
PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF AN ELECTION ON AUGUST 8, 1987, FOR
THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE RESIDENT QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE
CITY OF KENNEDALE, TEXAS, A PROPOSITION CONCERNING AND RELATING
TO THE ADOPTION OR REJECTION OF THE PROPOSED ADDITIONAL SALES AND
USE TAX.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENNEDALE,
TEXAS, THAT;
I
That an election be held in /or throughout the City of
Kennedale, Texas, for the purpose of submitting to the resident
qualified voters of said City the following proposition, to wit;
"The adoption of an additional one -half of one
percent (1/2 %) local sales and use tax within the
City to be used to reduce the property tax rate."

That for the purpose of holding said election, the following
location is hereby designated as the polling place for such election;
Community Center, 100 East Broadway Street
The polls shall remain open on the day of the election from
7 o'clocK a.m. to 7 o'clock p.m.
III
The following persons are hereby designated and appointed
election officers for the holding of said election;
Presiding Judge; Doris Conatser
Alternate Presiding Judge: Cheryl McKay
That the alternate presiding judge above named, in the absence of
the presiding judge, shall perform the duties of the presiding judge in
said election. The presiding judge shall appoint qualified voters who
are residents of the City of Kennedale, Texas, to serve as clerks in
said election, the appointment of such clerKs to include the alternate
presiding ,judge, who if present shall be appointed and counted as one
of the election clerKs.
IV
That absentee voting in said election shall be conducted at the
City Hall of said City and the City Secretary is hereby charged with
the duty of conducting absentee voting in said election as required by
law,

That it hereby determined that paper ballots shall be used in
conducting said election and that said ballots shall be prepared in
conformity with the Election Code of Texas, as amended, and in such
manner that the voters may vote either "FOR" or "AGAINST" on the
proposition.
VI
That notice of said election shall be given by posting copies of
a notice containing a substantial copy of this ordinance at the City
Hall and at the aforesaid polling places at least twenty (20) days
before the election, and by publishing said Notice of Election at least
one time not more than twenty -five (25) days nor less than ten (10)
days prior to said election in a newspaper published in the City of
Kennedale.
PASSED, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this, the 9th day of July, 1987.
