AN ORDINANCE LEVYING TAXES FOR THE USE AND SUPPORT
OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF THE CITY OF KENNEDATE,
TEXAS, AND PROVIDING FOR THE BOND AND INTEREST RE -
TIREMENT FUNDS OF ALL OUTSTANDING GENERAL OBLIGATION
BONDS OF THE CITY, AND OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS
TO BE ISSUED DURING THE ENSUING YEAR, FOR THE TAX
YEAR 1973, AS HEREIN SET FORTH; APPORTIONING EACH
LEVY FOR THE SPECIFIC PURPOSE; AND PROVIDING AN EF-
FECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENNEDALE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That there is hereby levied and there shall be
collected for the use and support of the municipal government of
the City of Kennedale, Texas, and to provide an interest and sink-
ing fund for the retirement of each series of outstanding general
obligation tax bonds of the City of Kennedale, Texas, and of gen-
eral obligation tax bondsof the City of Kennedale, Texas to be
issued during the ensuing year, as hereinafter set forth, upon all
property, real, personal and mixed, within the corporate limits of
the City of Kennedale, Texas, subject to taxation, a tax of $1.35
on each $100.00 valuation of property for the tax year 1973, said
tax being so levied and apportioned for the purposes herein set
forth:
(a) For the Interest and Sinking Funds of the City
of Kennedale, Texas, for payment of principal
and interest maturing and accruing upon all
outstanding General Obligation Tax Bonds of
the City of Kennedale, Texas, a tax. of One Dol-
lar ($1.00) on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00)
valuation of property.
(b) For the maintenance and support of the general
government of the City of Kennedale, Texas
(General Fund), a tax of Thirty -Five Cents
(350 on each One Hundred Dollars ($100.00)
valuation of property.
Section 2. Outstanding General Obligation Bonds of the
City of Kennedale, Texas which are referred to in Subparagraph (a)
of Section 1 of this ordinance include the following: City of Ken-
nedale Water Works System Bonds, Series 1952; City of Kennedale
Water Works System Bonds, Series 1955; City of Kennedale General
Obligation Bonds, Series 1960; City of Kennedale General Obliga-
tion Bonds, Series 1962; City of Kennedale General Obligation
Bonds, Series 1964; City of Kennedale General Obligation Bonds,
Series 1965; City of Kennedale Refunding Bonds, Series 1967;City
of Kennedale Water Works System and Sewer. System General Obliga-
tion Bonds, Series 1970 and 1970-A; and City of Kennedale General
Obligation Bonds, Series 1973.
Section 3. There is hereby levied and there shall be
collected from every person, firm, association or corporation
pursuing any occupation taxed by the general laws of the State
of Texas, an annual occupation tax equal in each instance to
one-half (1/2) of the state occupation tax, which said taxes
shall be paid annually in advance except where otherwise pro-
vided by state law, and then as provided by state law, which
occupation taxes are hereby appropriated to the maintenance
and support of the general municipal government (General Fund).
Section 4. All monies collected under this ordinance
are hereby appropriated and set apart for the purposes indicated,
and the City Secretary shall keep accounts so as to readily and
distinctly show the amount collected, the amount expended and the
amount on hand at any time, in each of said funds, and it is here-
by made the duty of the City Tax Assessor -Collector and every per-
son collecting money for the City of Kennedale, Texas, to deliver
to the City Secretary -Treasurer, at the time of depositing any
monies, a statement showing to what fund such deposit should be
made and from what source received. All receipts of the City of
Kennedale not specifically apportioned by this ordinance are here-
by made payable to the General Fund of the City, unless the City
Council shall by resolution or ordinance hereafter otherwise direct.
Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
full force and effect from and after its passage.
