O57-02ORDINANCE NO. 57-2 AN ORDINANCE RECEIVING AND ANNEXING TERRITORY ADJACENT AND CONTIGUOUS TO THE CITY OF KENNEDAT,F, TEXAS; PROVIDING THAT SUCH AREA BE MADE A PART OF SAID CITY AND THAT THE OWNERS AND INHABITANTS THEREOF SHALL BE ENTITLED TO ALL THE PRIVILEGES OF OTHER PROPERTY OWNERS AND CITIZENS OF SAID CITY AND SHALL BE BOUND BY THE ACTS AND ORDINANCES NOW IN EFFECT AND TO BE HEREAFTER ADOPTED; FURTHER PROVIDING FOR AMENDING AND CORRECTING THE OFFICIAL BOUNDARIES OF SAID CITY AS HERETOFORE ADOPTED, AND FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE, WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Article 974-g, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes of 1925, as amended, Earl T. Glasgow and wife, Lela Mae Glasgow, being all of the owners of real property hereinafter described, have made application as by law provided to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Kennedale, Texas, requesting annexation to said City of the area situated in the County of Tarrant, State of Texas, des- cribed as follows, to -wit: BEING 75 acres of land, more or less, in Block 54 in the Shelby County School Land Survey, Abstract No. 1375, in Tarrant County, Texas, and being all of the south one-half of said Block 54 lying east of thecenter of Village Creek, and being more particularly described by metes and bounds as follows: BEGINNING at the southeast corner of the said Block 54 in the Shelby County School Land Survey, Abstract No. 1375, said point being in the west line of the M.E. Scott Survey, Abstract No. 1450 and the present boundary line of the City of Kennedale, Texas; THENCE west with the south boundary line of the said Block 54, Shelby County School Land Survey, to the center of Village Creek; THENCE northwesterly along the center line of Village Creek, with its meanders, to the point of intersection of the center line of said Creek with a line drawn parallel to and midway between the north and south boundary lines of said Block 54 (said line being the dividing line between the north one-half and the south one-half of Block 54); THENCE east along said dividing line between the north one-half and south one-half of said Block 54 to the east boundary line of Block 54 for corner, said point being midway between the northeast and southeast corners of said Block 5)4 and being in the west line of the J.W. Haynes Survey, Abstract No. 765, and in the present boundary line of the City of Kennedale, Texas; THENCE south with the east boundary line of said Block 54, the same being the west line of the J.W. Haynes and M.E. Scott Surveys, to the place of beginning. WHEREAS, the City Council, as provided by law, at a regular meeting on this the 5th day of April, 1957, duly and legally considered the said petition, hearing the arguments for and against such annexation, and it appearing to the City Council of the City of Kennedale, Texas, that all statutory requirements in connection with said application and petition have been fulfilled, and that all of said area, on which less than three qualified voters reside, is adjacent and contiguous to the present existing boundaries and limits of said City of Kennedale, and is not more than one-half mile in width, all of which the Council so finds; now, therefore: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENNEDALP , TEXAS: Section 1. That the property hereinabove described lying adjacent and contiguous to the present existing boundaries and limits of the City of Kennedale, Texas, be, and the same is hereby annexed and brought within the corporate limits and made an integral part of the said City of Kennedale, Texas. Section 2. That the owners and inhabitants of the area herein annexed be, and they are hereby declared entitled to all the rights and privileges of other property owners and citizens of said City of Kennedale, and shall henceforth be bound by all the acts and ordinances of said City of Kennedale which are now in full force and effect and which may be here- after adopted. Section 3. That the official map and boundaries of the City of Kennedale, Texas, as heretofore adopted and amended, be corrected and amended, so as to include the above described area and territory as a part of the City of Kennedale, Texas. Section 4. That this ordinance shall become effective from and after its passage and approval by the Mayor, duly attested by the City Secretary. A plat of said land showing its location with respect to the boundary of the City of Kennedale , Texas, is attached hereto marked EXHIBIT "A". 2. That the land described in EXHIBIT "A" and "B" hereto attached, is less than one-half mile in width; that less than three qualified voters reside thereon, and is contiguous and adjacent to the City of Kennedale Texas. 3.
