ITEM NO. 1-Discussion on revising Guidelines and Criteria for Tax Abatements.
It was brought to Council's attention that the city's Guidelines and Criteria for Tax Abatements
expired in May 1999 and by State law, they are only good for two years. Council was provided
options that included retaining the current guidelines and criteria, enumerating changes as they
felt was necessary, or eliminating the tax abatement program.
Council felt that it was beneficial to continue using tax abatements to attract and retain businesses
to the City of Kennedale.
Council agreed to schedule the guidelines and criteria for action at their August meeting with no
recommended changes.
ITEM NO. 2 -General discussion.
Items discussed included the following:
• An acknowledgement was expressed on behalf of Oak Crest Baptist Church thanking the
Mayor, Councilmembers and city staff for the successful annexation of Oak Crest Addition;
