O28STATE OF TEXAS, COUNTY OF TARRANT, CITY OF KENNEDALE. On this the ORDINANCE NO. 28 5th day of October, 1956, the (City Council) s) of the City of Kennedale, Texas, convened in regular meeting, with the following members present, to -wit: Norman T. Childres, Mayor Thomas A.Bulin, Alderman W. W. Davis, Alderman Steve Rada kavich, Alderman Mrs. R. W. Ward, Alderman Mrs. Susie A. Langford, (City Secretary) (City Clerk) with the following absent: J. R. Cunningham, constituting a quorum, at which time the following proceedings were had: Alderman Thomas A. Bulin introduced for consideration of the (City Council) ( an ordinance. The or- dinance was read in full by the (City Secretary) ) Alderman W. W. Davis made a motion that the ordinance be passed. WarA NOES: / 0 I The ordinance as passed is as follows: AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF KENNEDALE ACTING FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID CITY TO ENTER INTO ALL NECESSARY _AGREEMENTS WITH THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WELFARE RELATIVE.TO FEDERAL OLD -AGE AND.SUR- VIVORS INSURANCE BENEFITS UNDER THE PROVISIONS_OF AP- PLICABLE STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS;_ AUTHORIZING_ THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE.ALL SAID NECESSARY AGREEMENTS AND INSTRUMENTS FOR AND ON BEHALF OF SAID (CITY COUNCIL) (BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS) AND CITY;_ DIRECTING THE CITY SECRETARY TO MAKE ASSESSMENTS, COLLECTIONS, AND REPORTS; AND ORDERING THE ALLOCATION AND SETTING ASIDE OF SUFFICIENT MONEY FROM AVAILABLE FUNDS TO CARRY OUT THE PROVISIONS OF SAID LAWS, SUCH MONEY TO BE SET ASIDE AND MAINTAINED IN THE REGULAR CITY DEPOSITORY AND TO BE KNOWN AS THE CITY OF KENNDALE SOCIAL SECURITY FUND: WHEREAS, under the provisions of (1) House Bill 603, Acts 52nd Leg., R. S. 1951, and (2) Public Law 734, 81st Congress, Ch. 809, 2d, H. R. 6000, incorporated cities of this State may enter into agreements with the State Department of Public Welfare and se- cure the benefits of Federal Old -Age and Survivors Insurance, as outlined in said laws; and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this City Council that the extension of this Old -Age and Survivors Insurance System will be of great benefit not only to the employees of the municipality but to the municipality by attracting to it and enabling it to retain the best'of personnel and thus increase the efficiency of its government; and it is deemed that the payment by the municipality of its portion of the cost of said system is a payment for municipal purposes. WHEREAS, it is the desire of this City Council to authorize the making of any and all necessary agreements in order to secure the benefits of said acts; therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COTJNCIL OF THE CITY OF XENNEDALE, TEXAS: 1. That the (City Council) (Board of Commissioners) acting for and on behalf_ of the City of Kennedale, shall enter into all necessary agreements with the State Department of Public Welfare for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of the above -mentioned acts. 2. That Hon. Norman T. Childres, Mayor, is hereby appointed as Agent of the City Council and of the City to execute all necessary agreements and instruments for and in behalf of said City Council and City. 3. That the City Secretary (Susie A. Langford) is hereby directed to be the person responsible for making assessments, col- lections, payments, and reports, as required by the State Department of Public Welfare. 4. That a sufficient sum of money be allocated and set aside from available funds for the purpose of carrying out the pro- visions of the above -mentioned acts, such money so allocated and set aside to be known as the City of Kennedale Social Security Fund, which fund shall be set aside and_maintained in the regular city depository.
