O25ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE RECEIVING AND ANNEXING TERRITORY ADJACENT AND CONTIGUOUS TO THE CITY OF KENNLLALE, TEXAS; PROVIDING THAT SUCH AREA SHALL BE A PART OF SAID CITY AND THAT THE OWNERS AND INHABITANTS THEREOF SHALL BE ENTITTZD TO THE PRIVILEGES OF OTHER CITIZENS OF SAID CITY AND SHALL BE BOUND BY THE ACTS AND ORDINANCES NGW IN EFFECT AND TO BE HEREAFTER ADOPTED; AMENDING AND CORRECTING THE OFFICIAL BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY AS HERETO- FORE ADOPTED; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE7 WHEREAS, oursuant to Article 974, Texas Revised Civil Statute of 1925, as amended, Jack McKnight, G. E. Young and W. H. Calvert, each of whom is an inhabitant and property owner in the hereinafter described territory, and each of whom is qualified to vote for members of the State Legislature, have heretofore filed before the Mayor of the City of Kennedale, Texas, an affidavit re- citing that an election has been held in and among the inhabitants of said hereinafter described territory, who are qualified to vote for members of the State Legislature, and that a majority of such inhabitants who are so qualified to vote have voted in favor of said hereinafter described territory becoming a part of the City of Kennedale, Texas, which affidavit has been duly certified by the Mayor to the City Council of said City; and TATHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Kennedale, Texas, as provided by law, has duly and legally considered the same, and it appearing to the Council that all statutory require- ments in connection with said affidavit and the annexation of said hereinafter described territory have been fulfilled, that an election was in fact held as recited in said affidavit, that a majority of the inhabitants of said territory, qualified to vote for members of the State Legislature, have voted in favor of annexation, that said territory is adjacent to the present boundaries of the City of Kennedale and is not more than one-half (=i-) mile in width, and that it will be to the best interest of the City of Kennedale to annex the same, all of which the City Council so finds, now, there- fore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENNEDAT7,,, TEXAS: Section 1. That the hereinafter described territory, lying adjacent to the existing boundaries of the City of Kennedale, Texas, be, and the same is hereby annexed and brought within the crrporate limits and made an integral part of the City of Kennedale, Texas, said land and territory being described by metes and bounds as follows: BEING property in the J. M. Lilly Survey, Abstract No. 985, and W. E. Haltom Survey, Abstract No. 1791, in Tarrant County, Texas, (also being a portion of the J. M. Estes Home Tracts and adjoining lands), adjoin- ing the present city limits of the City of Kennedale, Texas, and more particularly described as follows: BEGINNING at the point of intersection of the present East boundary line of the city limits of the City of Kennedale, and the center line of the Kennedale-Sublett Road, said point being in the North line of the J. N. Lilly Survey 900 ft. from the North- west corner of said Survey; THENCE East with the center line of the said Kennedale-Sublett Road, the same be- ing the North line of the said J. M. Lilly Survey, at 1627.1 ft. passing the Northeast corner of said Survey, in all one-half (i) mile (2,640 ft.) to a point for the Northeast corner of this tract;' THENCE Scutt 900 ft. to a point for the Southeast corner of this tract;v"-- THENCE West (parallel to and at a distance of 900 ft. from the center line of said Kennedale-Sublett Road), at 1012.9 ft. passing the East line of the said J. M. Lilly Survey, in all one-half (i) mile (2,640 ft.) to a point in the East boundary line of the present city limits of the City of Kennedale for the Southwest corner of this tract;-v THENCE North with the present East boundary line of the City limits of the City of Kennedale 900 ft. to the point of beginning, the same being the Northwest corner of this tract. That the owners and inhabitants of the area hereinabove described and annexed shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of other owners and citizens of the City of Kennedale and shall be bound by all of the acts and ordinances of the City of Kennedale now in full force and effect and that may be hereinafter adopted. Section 3. That the official tapandc,boundaries ofHche City -of Kennedale, Texas, as:hrw7tofore adopted, be, and the same are.hereby corrected and amended so as to include the here- inabove described area and territory as a part of the City of Kennedale, Texas. That the method of holding said election was satisfactory to a majority of the inhabitants of said territory, who were qualified to vote for members of the State Legislature, and that every in- habitant of said territory qualified to vote for members of the State Legislature was given an opportunity to vote in said election.
